Geek News: NINJA TURTLES ARE HEADED TO GOTHAM!

 By Jen P

tmnt batman comic crossover 2

That’s right. You heard me. Leo and the gang are headed to Gotham to team up with the bat. DC Comics and IDW Publishing are producing a TMNT/Batman crossover comic, scheduled to hit shelves in November. Written by James Tynion (Batman Eternal, Constantine) and drawn by Freddie Williams II (Robin, Captain Atom), the mashup has already garnered lots of attention since its announcement at San Diego Comic Con last week, with a story placing the turtles in a battle against Shredder (no surprise there), General Krang, and most likely a whole slew of Batman villains to go up against along the way. Apparently, Krang has sent the turtles and Shredder across dimensions in an effort to finally rid himself of them all. The comic will be released as a 6-part miniseries with a new edition each week once it debuts. COMIC CON GOODNESS: Leaked ‘Deadpool’ Trailer is Everything We’ve Been Hoping For

By T. Mack

We were already hella excited that Ryan Reynold’s is Deadpool. And in our hearts, we are still thanking whoever it was that leaked the test footage last year that eventually got us the upcoming Deadpool movie. We have seen pictures of Reynolds as the anti-hero, but we have still been awaiting our first glimpse of video footage. This weekend, the lucky bastards who attended the Deadpool panel at SDCC were given the chance to watch the very first trailer for the film… twice.

Of course, one of them leaked it. Because that’s what we geeks do. We share the love! Check out the fuzzy-but-still-super-awesome leaked trailer below. Then tell us in the comments if you’ll be heading to theaters in February to check out this movie about the hilarious “Merc with the Mouth.”

Joss Whedon is the mind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog. He directed both Avengers movies and has written more comic books than most people know. This weekend at SDCC, Whedon announced that he will return to his roots and release a 6-part comic book series about a “female Victorian Batman.” The comic, titled Twist, is still in development and has no set release date. However, Whedon did share the artwork above to tease the series.

Are you a fan of Joss Whedon’s work? If so, what’s your favorite? Will you plan to check out this new series when it arrives? Take to the comments and let us know.

COMIC CON NEWS: Merida Joins Season 5 of ‘Once Upon a Time’

By: T. Mack

A new addition to ABC’s Once Upon a Time was announced today during the show’s panel at SDCC. Merida from the Pixar film, Brave, will join the cast of the show’s 5th season. The spunky, redheaded archer was revealed in a new clip that shows off her skills with a bow and reminds us of the first time we were exposed to her wild and unruly signature mane. Merida will be played by Amy Manson (Atlantis). Check out the clip below and let us know in the comments if you will be tuning in to OUAT this Fall.

COMIC CON GOODNESS: ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Trailer

By T. Mack

The CW panel at SDCC isn’t until tonight. And during it, there will no doubt be more goodness and news to come at us. However, the network didn’t wait to give their awesome new trailer exclusively to the attenders of the con. Yesterday, they released another trailer for the Arrow and The Flash spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow. (While the video didn’t debut at the con, I’m still counting it as Comic Con Goodness because we all know it was specifically timed to coincide with the events this weekend)

The series begins airing mid-season and will likely offer lots and lots of cross-overs with its predecessors. Yay! The new video, called Hero Evolution, is awesome! Check it out below then take to the comments to tell us whether or not you will be watching this new show when it comes to television in 2016. COMIC CON GOODNESS: New ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Trailer

By T. Mack

I must confess, when the first teaser trailer for Batman v Superman hit the net months ago, I was unimpressed. Today, SDCC brings us a new, fuller trailer with more details and a better idea of what pits the two superheroes against each other. I am now less unimpressed. While I’m still not convinced about Batfleck, I’m more hopeful about this movie being half-decent. Also, it was nice to finally see Wonder Woman, if only for a split second. Check out the trailer and take to the comments. What do you think of Batfleck and the chances of the new film being awesome? Let us know.

The 2020 Green Lantern movie has been a hot topic lately . Rumors have abounded about possible casting choices and the likelihood that the film will contain more than one iteration of the main Green Lantern character. Today at SDCC, Warner Bros confirmed many of our suspicions by officially announcing that what we thought would be a film called Green Lantern will actually be a movie titled Green Lantern Corps. This is great news! It allows us to look forward to something that promises to be completely different from the disastrous 2011 film that starred Ryan Reynolds. Continue reading
