It’s Christmas! A day filled with gifts, loved ones, and Doctor Who. Except this year they’ve decided to not do a Doctor Who Christmas special. I know, I know, it’s quite the bummer. But my geeky friends, it’s still a joyous day that should be spent focused on what we’re grateful for in this season. So instead of crying into our scarves about the lack of a Doctor Who Christmas special this year, let’s look back on all the other Christmas specials and focus on all the wonderful reasons to love these uniquely Christmas specials*.
Why do I love The Princess Switch? Because love stories, however ridiculous, warm my heart. I’m a shallow, shallow woman, and as long as the acting is decent and I’m personally attracted to the cast, I’m all in. But what truly makes The Princess Switch stand out among the other candy cane and hot cocoa romances, is that in this tale, you get two love stories for the price of one! Continue reading →
It’s finally December! Time to buy presents, put up decorations, and eat all the good food! And most importantly, time to watch all the holiday episodes! Every good TV show does holiday episodes: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. If you want your show to be good, you better have a holiday episode of some kind. What else am I suppose to do while I eat gingerbread cookies and avoid reality? Bob’s Burgers does amazing holiday episodes! The kids are hilarious, the situations are crazy, but relatable, and the characters are down right perfect. Don’t believe me? Just look up Linda Belcher quotes and then try to tell me that Linda isn’t the most amazing creature. During the holiday season, I like to re-watch holiday episodes to really get me in the spirit and this week I re-watched all the Bob’s Burgers holiday episodes and decided to do a Top 5 list. Come along with me on this magical holiday journey!
The season of giving is officially here. We’ve enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner and now we can fully embrace the holiday season in all its glory.
While we enjoy the twinkling lights, the delicious food, and all the sappy movies that Hallmark Channel and Netflix can throw at us, let’s also remember those who are less fortunate. Because this season of giving is a wonderful time to give to those in need. While we shop, eat, and celebrate, let’s please keep in mind our friends in California who are currently losing their homes and lives to deadly fires, the homeless and impoverished in our own areas, and all those around the world who are not able to celebrate.
This season, as you give to family and friends, please consider giving to others as well. ‘Tis the Season.
Yeah, I know it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. And no, I’m not one of those Christmas-season-begins-the-day-after-Halloween crazies. But I am a realist; and there’s a tiny window before the crazies descend upon the good merch and clear it out. (I’m speaking from experience. I waited until the last minute last year and had to settle for a Target Star Wars sweater when I really wanted a suit covered in leg lamps.) So if you want to impress at this years office Christmas party, read on and buy some of this epic stock before December first. You can thank me later. Continue reading →
Today, I’ll share how to make some super useful sh*t: a unicorn headband! And since it’s the season of eggnog and spiked cider, I’ve chosen to decorate mine in poinsettias and glittering green. Continue reading →
An oldie but a goodie. This Nightmare Before Christmas parody captures the horror I experienced the day after Halloween. Jack took the words right out of my mouth: “The f*ck?” The spiderwebs came down, and the lights went up, leaving me with a sense of loss, not wonder. But don’t get me wrong– I love Christmas. I only wish the Halloween cheer lasted just as long.
Plus, aren’t we skipping a holiday with a turkey or something?
Warning: Not Safe For Work or Christmas dinner with the in-laws. Otherwise, enjoy!
Sister Geeks love movies. That love includes sappy, made-for-TV Christmas movies; just like the ones that play 24/7 on certain channels during the holiday season. Actually, we’ve shared our love of Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas in the past. But today, we sit down together to talk about our favorite romantic holiday TV flicks.
Do you love Christmas TV movies? What’s your favorite? Take to the comments and let us know.
