The season of giving is officially here. We’ve enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner and now we can fully embrace the holiday season in all its glory.
While we enjoy the twinkling lights, the delicious food, and all the sappy movies that Hallmark Channel and Netflix can throw at us, let’s also remember those who are less fortunate. Because this season of giving is a wonderful time to give to those in need. While we shop, eat, and celebrate, let’s please keep in mind our friends in California who are currently losing their homes and lives to deadly fires, the homeless and impoverished in our own areas, and all those around the world who are not able to celebrate.
This season, as you give to family and friends, please consider giving to others as well. ‘Tis the Season.
It’s Fall, y’all! There’s finally a chill in the air and the leaves are showing their true colors. Apple cider is readily available, the kiddos are dressed up in their cutest costumes, the grownups are dressed in their geekiest gear, and there’s candy EVERYWHERE. I absolutely adore this time of year. Fall is my favorite season. In no small part because right about now, my witch obsession is not considered weird. Since the witching season is finally upon us, here’s a list of 5 of the best witching families to revisit this time of year.

Many of us are equal parts excited, nervous, curious, and anxious to see what this new Doctor will be like and what kind of adventures we can expect from her and her new Companions. Fortunately, it’s just about time to find out!
Some heroes are even more heroic off-screen. From creating online movements to raise awareness for their cause (I’m looking at you, @David_Ramsey, raising awareness of testicular cancer #DontQuit), to building entire charities from the ground up, these celebs know how to make their mark.
Below, I’ve listed a few CW actors you can really look up to. Read on to find out who they are, their cause, and how you can help. Continue reading →
I work in an office. Sister Geek, Taylor, works in the office across the hall from mine. In another office on another hall works a friend of ours named Sierra (name changed for her protection). Some mornings, Sierra comes over toting her mason jar filled with warm coffee and almond milk to say, “Good morning!” and chat a while about life, love, the importance of a fashionable day planner, the current f*@%3d up political climate of these United States, and the pursuit of happiness in the field of conservation (in which we all work).
Last week, on one such morning, our talk turned to books, as it often does. In the course of our discussion, each of us received a recommendation (or two) for books to read. By the next day, we had all acquired the books that had been recommended to us, either by our own means or because the friend who recommended them had brought them to us from her personal collection. And just like that, we inadvertently created The Accidental & Impromptu Conservation & Collaboration Book Club (because ridiculously long book club names are all the rage these days). The recommended books for this round of reading are as follows…
