As you may have heard from my article on Monday, this week Outlander returns to Starz for its second season. I’ve featured Outlander items in past Geek Chic posts of mine, but this post is no retread of previous items. No, I searched high and low for some unique Outlander-themed items this time. If you’re a Sassenach, you may want to start counting your pennies right now…
This boxset, which I’ve seen sell for as little as $50 around the holidays, features not only the first season on Blu Ray, but also some cool collectibles, such a flask engraved with a quote from the series, the first season’s soundtrack with three additional tracks, an exclusive book with photos and more from the cast and crew of the first season, and more. I already own the season on Blu Ray myself, but, when I saw this come out, I nearly bought this in addition to the ones I already owned. This is definitely a treasure for any Sassenach.
In a memorable scene from episode 1.07, The Wedding, Claire drops her shift to reveal her body to Jamie as they spend a very sexy wedding night getting to know each other. This Etsy store has a similar shift for sale, custom made in either linen or cotton. It’s a wee bit pricey, around $70 for the cotton version, but it’s a one-of-a-kind item perfect for an Outlander fan who wants to experience a little of what it’s like to be a woman in the 18th century.
These adorable Pop Vinyl figures are everywhere now, with just about every movie or television show releasing the square-headed versions of their characters. This bundle has all of the Outlander characters that Pop Vinyl has created: Jamie Fraser, Claire Fraser, Black Jack Randall, Frank Randall, and Dougal Mackenzie. These are a great gift for the Sassenach in your life!
Coloring books for adults have caught on as the new fun and relaxing hobby for those of us who might have missed that big box of crayons from our childhoods. This book features scenes from Outlander for you to color, including Claire’s herbs, the characters’ costumes, and more. The drawings are intricate and detailed, giving you ample opportunity to color these scenes as you might have imagined them while reading Diana’s immortal words.
If you’re a fan of Diana Gabaldon’s series, you know that she mentions a number of different dishes throughout, from the series’ beginnings in the Highlands through to their travels elsewhere. Author Theresa Carle-Sanders has created a number of recipes inspired by Claire’s journey through the stones into the 18th century. She has recipes for everything from dinner to condiments to cocktails and more; the book features the recipes for Fiona’s Cinnamon Scones and the roast beef dinner served at Jamie and Claire’s wedding. The book is set for release in June 2016, but you can preorder it now to have it on your doorstep when it’s released.
Look at all of this fun Outlander gear! I’m so ready for Saturday. I guess I’ll keep searching the tubes for more cool stuff to add to my next Geek Chic.
Or, instead, perhaps we could all jump in the TARDIS and hop to Saturday to watch the premiere finally!
