Those particular words no doubt inspire a clutch of excitement in the hearts of Whovians everywhere, until you stop to remember that we’re on the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) now. Which Doctor do I mean then? Will the New Whovians (2005 – present) be giddy with delight at this news? Or will Classic Who fans be as thrilled as small children on Christmas morning? Up here in the last of 256, also known as Huntsville, there’s a little gathering each summer called Con Kasterborous. For 2016, the con will be held at the Embassy Suites Downtown on June 25th and 26th. Past notable guests include Caitlin Blackwood, who played young Amelia Pond; the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, who also played Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy; and the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann. This past week, the con’s organizers announced that the special guest for 2016 will be the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker!

Baker has had a long career on both stage and screen in Britain, but, to Americans, he will be best known for his role as the Sixth Doctor, whose run lasted from 1983 to 1986. His Doctor is known for his colorful coat and volatile personality. Though Baker’s run was one of the shortest, he has demonstrated great affection for his time on Doctor Who through his involvement with the series after his run ended, including multiple appearances on Doctor Who radio adventures and his own Doctor Who story, which he penned in 1992. New Who fans will know Baker not only for his run in the multi-colored coat, but also his appearance in the Five-ish Doctors, a short film that showed Baker, Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor), and Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor) all trying to sneak on to the set of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special, which you can watch here.

Tickets for Con Kasterborous are on sale now. A VIP package, which includes a Meet & Greet with the con’s Special Guests as well as other perks, goes for $200. A two-day pass for adults is $45 and $35 for children 6-13. These prices are for a limited time so get your passes now so you can head to Huntsville and meet Colin Baker! In addition to the Sixth Doctor and other special guests, Con Kasterborous features a vendor room, panels, cosplay, and other events. For more information, check out the Con Kasterborous website.
