Y’ALL!!! This trailer is ridiculous in its epicness!
And I’ve got it here for you to view. First, though, let’s go over a bit of back story so I can tell you a little about this story line and why it is so exciting to see it played out on the big screen. For those who aren’t in the know because you’re either not a comic book fanatic or aren’t married to a human encyclopedia of comic book knowledge (like I am), here’s the scoop:
In the comics, the Civil War story line begins with a tragedy that takes the lives of a LOT of civilians during a superhero/supervillain battle. While none of the Avengers were part of that battle, the people cry out for all superheroes to be held accountable. The Registration Act is proposed. If passed as law, it will require all superheroes to reveal their secret identities and register with the government. They will then become federal employees, receiving benefits and working under the authority and regulation of the law. The superheroes immediately become divided between those who support the act becoming law and those who are strictly opposed to it.
I personally love this story line because it brings the comic world into the real world for me. If there were actual superheroes with super powers in our reality, this is exactly the kind of thing that would happen. There’s no way it couldn’t. Of course our government would want to regulate people with powers. Naturally many people would want to know the true identity of those heroes. And obviously there would be a great divide between those who very strongly support the idea and those who absolutely oppose it. The battles that are waged and fought with superheroes verses superheroes would be inevitable. And the collateral damage would likely be astronomical.
Because of the realistic feel of this story and because I truly believe all this would totally happen in the scenario in real life, I am excited and pumped to see what the MCU does with this story in the upcoming film. You really should be, as well. And if you’re not yet, just check out the trailer below. Even if the story doesn’t capture you, hot guys, beautiful women, big explosions or epic fights should pique your interest.
And if you want to know more about the real backstory of the Civil War comic story, check out this overview video from the Comicstorian:
The trailer made me sooo happy and so sad at the same time. I think everyone’s heart broke a litle when Steve said “He’s my friend.” and Tony answers “So was I.”
I just know that this movie is going to destroy me with all the feels. But to think that Chris Evans called this the Teaser Trailer makes me wonder if there’ll be another one.
