Kids everywhere rejoice. Parents everywhere curse Disney. Why? Because we are this much closer to having yet another movie that our kids want to watch on repeat every single day. And if they aren’t watching it then they want to sing the same song at the top of their lungs…nonstop.

Directors, Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, of the upcoming sequel, Frozen 2, have started releasing small tidbits about what we can expect for the characters of the mega-hit. While they are staying mum on most of the good stuff, we have learned what type of mentality Elsa will possess now that her secret is not so secret. Buck spoke to Fandango and had the following to say about this new side of Elsa.

[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That’s what was really good about the short [Frozen Fever] – we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality … you will see in the next one.

Even though parents may have dreaded watching the movie on replay, I think we can all agree that we appreciated that Frozen focused more on the sisterly bond of Elsa and Anna versus on a fairy tale romance. And according to an interview Buck did with MTV, we can definitely expect to see a focus on the sisters and the obstacles they face.

We have two very strong female leads in Frozen. We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with.

I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.

As a parent of an almost three year old little girl that was (and still is) obsessed with the original Frozen, I actually look forward to this new installment. Even though I know my child will want to watch it on repeat and yell sing the songs over and over again, we will be there opening night with bells on because I know how happy it will make her. And isn’t that why we do pretty much anything? And the movie choice could definitely be worse. I’m confident that the directors of the sequel will stay true to the message of the original, which was that sisters can overcome anything and that bond is what true, unconditional love is all about.

Are you looking forward to Frozen 2? Were your kids obsessed with the first one? What movie can your kids watch on repeat all day?
