We Sister Geeks would like to thank VINNIEH for giving us a shout-out with this awesome award! We are a baby site, still trying to get our footing and figure out how to make a place for ourselves here on the net. It means a tremendous amount for our efforts to be recognized, especially by a 7-time award winner! We really enjoy V’s site and are really proud to be associated with it in this way.
The Liebster Award works like this:
1. Post the Liebster Award graphic on your site.
2. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
3. Answer the questions posed to you by the nominator.
4. Nominate other blogs to receive the award.
5. Write questions of your own for your nominees to answer.
Yeah, I think we can handle that!
Since SisterGeeks is a collective of geeky girls, we’ll be answering VinnieH’s questions collectively. Here we go:
1. Who is your favourite sister in Charmed?
–> Dani: From the original sisters, my favorite is Prue because I related to her the most. I am an older sister and always worried about making sure everything and everyone was taken care of all the time. I also related to how driven Prue was to be successful. From the days of Paige, my favorite was Piper because she took on the role of the big sister and became so focused on her family.
–> T. Mack: Piper is my favorite sister in both eras of the show. From the very beginning until the last scene of the series, she represents the central heart of the family and the sisters. No matter which birth order position she inhabits, she unites everyone around her and helps bridge gaps between ages and generations. Given that, it’s no wonder that her love story is the one that sets the standard for all romantic love over the course of the show. Piper. It’s just gotta be Piper.
2. Are you a fan of romantic comedies?
–> Jen P: Yes! Fever Pitch is what comes to mind, and it’s a good one.
–> T. Mack: I love a good romantic comedy. The problem is, many of them (most, even) aren’t really that good. But the ones that are become instant favorites for me. I know they’re unrealistic. I know they’re mushy. But I can’t resist the feel-goodness of them. My favorite rom-com of all time? Love Actually. Though it might technically be classified as a “dramedy,” it’s still comedic and romantic so I say it counts.
3. If you could revisit a time in history, when would it be?
–> Jen P: The Future! Screw the past. I like my iPhone and A/C. But if it absolutely must be the past, then I’d visit the 80’s. Big hair and Duran Duran… yes please.
–> Dani: The roaring twenties! Those flapper dresses are the best!
4. Which movie star at the minute do you find most attractive?
–> Jen P: Hands down, Jensen Ackles. Mwah! Perfection.
–> T. Mack: In the interest of keeping answers diverse, I’m going to take the question literally and only consider movie stars. That way, we take Jenson off the table for me (otherwise he would most likely be my answer as well). With that in mind, I’m going with Chris Hemsworth. Because seriously… I mean, he’s just so… and I absolutely want to… Ok. I’m going to stop typing now. This could go places that are not appropriate.
5. Do you believe in karma?
–> T. Mack: I believe that we reap what we sow. And even though good things happen to bad people and evil seems to win out sometimes, I believe that there is a grand design and in the end, good begets good, bad will be punished and we must all answer for the things we’ve done.
–> Dani: I like to believe that Karma is real and that she is a BITCH! Especially when I am sitting in traffic and some loser decides to try to cut all the way around everyone else so they can skip the line or if I let someone over and they don’t do the little thank you wave….Can you tell I have a touch of road rage??
6. Do you have a favourite movie from the year you were born?
–> T. Mack: I’m really a bit embarrassed, here. Because I was born in 1980. And in that year, the following films came out: Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Shining, Airplane!, Blues Brothers, Caddyshack, The Elephant Man, Fame and Superman II among others. And for some uncanny reason I can’t fully explain, none of those is my favorite film of that year. It’s really, really a bit difficult for me to be honest here, but I’m going to push through and admit that instead of any of those, my #1 love from 1980 is The Blue Lagoon.
–> Jen P: I honestly can’t choose a favorite, so I made a short list: Back to the Future, Better off Dead, Just One of the Guys, Weird Science, The Goonies, and The Breakfast Club. I was really hoping The Lost Boys was made in my year, because then the answer would have been easy!
7. Black and white or colour photography?
–> Dani: I usually do color photography, but I love the look of black and white, also! So it really just depends what the picture needs!
–> T. Mack: While black and white photography has a certain beauty, there is something about being able to see the vibrant colors of a well-framed photograph. It adds a depth and richness that I enjoy looking at. So for me, it’s color.
8. If you had a magical power, what would it be?
–> Jen P: Mind manipulation because I could “encourage” people to be nicer to each other.
–> Dani: I would definitely read minds. I hate not know what someone is really thinking!
9. What is your view on male strippers?
–> Dani: Male strippers?!?! Where?! is Channing Tatum here?!
–> Jen P: Honestly, people stripping makes me uncomfortable in real life. The big screen Hollywood dazzle is a totally different thing from a live human grinding on you for money.
10. What subject were you best at in school?
–> T. Mack: English and Literature, of course! Big surprise, huh? I’ve always adored reading. I can’t even remember not being able to read. And I’ve been writing stories since early grade school. It’s what I do. It’s what I’ve always done. And in this one instance, it really helped me excel in a single area of school. In all other classes, I zoned out, never did homework and passed purely on luck while test-taking.
–> Dani: This is a hard one for me. I worked hard at all of them. My favorite was English. But I was really good at the math and sciences (except biology, which I despised).
11. What is an ideal day for you?
–> T. Mack: Lounging around in a clean, air-conditioned house while binge-watching commercial-free episodes of a great television show. It’s simple, but amazing!
–> Jen P: My perfect day would be spent wearing a spot-on cosplay with my crew dressed to match, at a con with all my favorite celebs and no lines to meet them.
12. What is your favourite TV show of the minute?
–> Jen P: The Flash
–> Dani: My favorite of the moment would be Mistresses…with Astronaut Wives being a close second.
–> T. Mack: At this very minute, it has to be Supernatural. But the reason is because about 36 hours ago, I finished a mega binge-watch of all 10 seasons (more than 200 episodes) and I’m still bewitched from gazing too long at Jensen Ackles. It’ll take me at least a few more days to come down from that high.
