TV Review: SENSE8 PILOT EPISODE

So fellow geeks, I just finished the first episode of Sense8. I’m intrigued. For me, it is most definitely different.

The show starts with Angelica’s (Darryl Hannah) death. Eight random people from around the globe have mysterious visions of her death and become Sensates, seemingly normal human beings who are mentally and emotionally connected. They are able to communicate, sense, use each other’s knowledge, language and skills.
There are a few faces that will be familiar to some viewers. Naveen Andrews plays Jonas. Andrews is a “Lost” alumni and a fan favorite. He is obviously a Sensate and has a connection to Angelica. I’m just not sure what that connection is or what it means. I did get the impression he is one of the good guys. Brian J. Smith plays Will, the Chicago police officer. Gaters will recognize him from “SGU Stargate”. For me, the most recognizable actor (excluding the mermaid from my childhood, Daryl Hannah) in this series is Martha Jones… I mean Freema Agyaman. Oh my! Her introductory scene made my jaw drop straight to the floor! Whovians, be prepared to see Dr. Jones in a whole new light!
At the end of episode one, these eight guys and gals have no idea what is happening to them. I, the viewer, have no clue either, and that’s a good enough reason to watch the next episode.
