Just How Devoted Am I to ‘Harry Potter’ Alumni?

By T. Mack

I recently watched a movie preview starring two alums from the Harry Potter movie series. I squee’d hard because one of them is Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and she is utterly amazing. The other is David Thewlis (Remus Lupin), who is maybe less awesome to me than Watson, but cool in his own right. Based on this alone, I was ready to be excited for the film. Then I watched the rest of the trailer. Ummm…

Here are the problems. First, I don’t do horror movies. I just can’t wrap my head around why fear is a good emotion that people actually desire to have. Because I don’t. Ever. Second, this movie stars Ethan Hawke, who I have a hard time taking seriously and watching for extended periods of time outside of the one exception, which is Gattaca. I’m not sure of the reason for this. I’ve tried to figure it out but haven’t come up with anything conclusive. Third, this movie trailer gives the impression that this film is meant to be mysterious, suspenseful and thrilling. However, the trailer fails to convince me that the movie will actually be any of those things.

So I have a decision to make. Just how devoted am I to the alumni of the Harry Potter movie series? Devoted enough to sit through Regression even though everything in me tells me it’s totally not for me? Hmmmm…

Check out the trailer below then tell me what you think. Will you be checking out Regression when it hits theaters on August 28th? Does this movie look like a good one to you? Why or why not? Share your thoughts in the comments.
