Harry Potter fans around the world rejoiced when the new spinoff trilogy based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was announced. We have all been itching to dive back into world of our favorite teenage wizard, so even though this movie will not be about Harry himself, just the idea of being back in the frenzy has fans over the moon. But with all of the fanfare comes tons of rumors. With all of the casting rumors swirling around, we at Sister Geeks want you to be properly informed of what is really coming to the big screen. Without further ado, here is everything we know:

1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book written by J.K. Rowling herself as a guide to all of the magical creatures we encountered in Harry Potter. The book is written as a reference guide authored by Newt Scamander. It (along with the movie) is set in 1920s New York City.
2. The movies will follow the life and adventures of Newt Scamander in his journey discovering and documenting the creatures featured in the book such as Pixies, Giants, Hippogriffs, Phoenixes, and more.
3. Warner Bros. is backing the films (of course).
4. The screenplay for the film has been written by Jo, which makes me beyond excited! This is Rowling’s story as she wants it told! No worries about someone else coming in and butchering it!
5. As of right now, the story is planned to be a trilogy; although, future movies have not been ruled out! The first movie has a tentative release date of Nov. 18, 2016 with the subsequent movies coming in 2018 and 2020.
6. David Heyman, whom produced all 8 of the Harry Potter films, will be producing this film, as well. Also returning is the director of the final 4 Harry Potter movies, David Yates. The same graphics company will also be working on this new movie.
7. Eddie Redmayne has been confirmed to portray Newt Scamander. Despite all of the rumors floating around about who else may be cast in supporting roles, Redmayne is the only actor confirmed for any role.
In true Jo fashion, she has been releasing small details about the characters and plot via Twitter. So I highly recommend following her on Twitter to stay updated. And you can be sure that SisterGeeks will be on top of any major news coming out about the highly anticipated movie series!
Are you excited about the new movies? Will you be first in line to see them? What actors and actresses would you like to see cast in the other roles available? Tell us your thoughts in comments.
