Adam Rodriguez (CSI:Miami, Magic Mike XXL) will join the second season of Empire in a recurring role beginning this Fall. The Hollywood Reporter explains that “Rodriguez will play Laz Delgado, a smooth-talking concert promoter with expert hustler skills. A native New Yorker and former EMT, Laz takes an interest in Cookie.”
This won’t be the first time Rodriguez has worked with Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie on Empire. In 2009, the duo starred together in the comedy/drama I Can Do Bad All By Myself. The movie was based on the play of the same name by Tyler Perry, who also directed the film.
When Henson was approached about the role of Cookie, she let creators know she would not accept the job unless Terrance Howard was given the lead of Luscious Lyon to work opposite her. I have to wonder if Henson had a say in this casting choice as well.
Other guest-stars to appear on Empire in the new season include Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz. Ne-Yo will appear and is also contributing original music to the show.
Do you watch Empire? What are you looking forward to in Season 2? Will Rodriguez be a good addition to the show. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
